CARTHAGE — Residents will vote on a $381,052 municipal budget at their annual town meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, Selectman Stephen Brown said Friday morning.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Carthage Town Office building.

Brown said that the proposed 2015-16 budget will cause the town’s mill rate to be lowered from 0.018 to 0.015.

He pointed out that Article 43 asks residents if they wish to authorize the board to accept a land donation from Wanda J. Robinson to use for public recreation purposes.

Brown said that the land being donated is “located on the southwest side of the discontinued county road leading from Berry Mills, over the Winter Hill and Tainer Hill to East Dixfield,” and contains “more or less, 60 acres.”

The land would be used for public recreation purposes, and would be known as the “Richard W. Robinson Park.”

Brown added that the town would be responsible for providing a sign for the property.

Residents will also vote on whether the town should appropriate $1,600 from the Saddleback Ridge Wind Community Benefits Fund to continue the town’s Community Meals for Seniors Program.

Brown said that the Board of Selectmen recommended a “Yes” vote.
