1923 – 2015
LEWISTON — Romeo A. Poulin, 92, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, Dec. 9, after a two-year battle with kidney disease.
He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 24, 1923, to Charles and Marie Ann Poulin.
He attended Lewiston schools and was in the Army for two years.
He then went to work at St. Mary’s Hospital, in the housekeeping department, for 31 years. He also worked for Parent Furniture Store of Lewiston. Romeo was a hard worker and often had two and three jobs.
In 1947 he married Pauline Morin and together they raised three children. Pauline died in 1964. Romeo later married Lilliette Pelletier and they were together for 38 years.
After their retirement they both enjoyed traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla. for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Lilliette of Auburn, along with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind daughters, Delice Miller of Lewiston and Claire Poulin of Augusta; a son, Dan Poulin of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Tammy Libby of Auburn, Chris and wife, Betsy Miller, of Hartford, Nicholas Miller and wife, Elizabeth, of La Mesa, Calif., Kim Tran of Farmingdale and Linh Tran and Christine Tran of Augusta; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Abigail Libby of Auburn, Jonathan Romeo and Jamison Miller of California, and Olivia and Sophia Dunham of Farmingdale. He also leaves behind two brothers, Clement of Tennessee and Normand and his wife, Connie, of Boca Raton, Fla.; three sisters, Norma Kelly and partner, Don St. Pierre, of Lewiston, Carmen Boucher of Lewiston and Rose of Tennessee; also brothers-in-law, Roland Morin and wife, Laura, of Livermore Falls and Lucien Morin of New Hampshire.
He was predeceased by his parents; his former wife, Pauline; and many brothers and sisters.
A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff of 4 West at d’Youville Pavilion, where he had been a resident for 17 months. Also to Jessica Dussault, Steve Rogers, Keena and many others from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the extra care they gave him the last nine months.
Dad, you are missed already, but ‘til then keep that gate open for us.
