1922 – 2015

BRUNSWICK — Carmalene E. Lancaster, 93, died Monday, Dec. 21, at Mid Coast Senior Health Center, Brunswick.

She was born in Bowdoin, Oct. 31, 1922, the daughter of Willis and Mona Hamilton Skelton. She graduated from Bowdoinham High School and attended nursing school in Portland.

She had been employed at Worumbo Mill, Peterson’s Leather Co. and retired from J. Brush Co..

Carmalene enjoyed training and driving oxen, skiing, roller skating, ice skating, as well as hunting, fishing and gardening. She was also know to do carpentry work.

She is survived by her son, Mark C. Lancaster of Bowdoinham; and four sisters, Clarinda Gray, Shirley Bickford, Eunice Crier and Pearl Roberts.

Her husband, Horace Lancaster, died in 1987. She was also predeceased by a sister, Alma O’Neill; and four brothers, Forest, Leon, Thurman and Lloyd Skelton.
