FARMINGTON — Merlin James White, 90, of Farmington, formerly of Kingfield, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center in Farmington.
He was born in Starks on Sept. 4, 1925, the son of James and Etta White. After leaving the U.S. Navy in 1946, Merlin went to work in the woods until 1949 when he went to work on the Natural Gas Pipeline out of Houston, Texas. He then worked as a carpenter for different employers in the area until going to work as a machinist for several years before retiring. Merlin was an honorary 2002 graduate of Mt. Abram High School. He was also a member of the American Legion, Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F), the Royal Encampment and Kingfield Sno-Wanderers.
Merlin is survived by his sons, Alan and wife, Cindy, and Kevin and wife, Rachel; grandson, Jarod; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara.
