BRIDGTON — Flames ripped through a used car business in Bridgton, destroying the building and damaging dozens of cars.

The fire chief says it appears the fire started in a car that was being worked on in the garage, but it’s still unclear what caused the fire.

It destroyed not only the building, but dozens of cars parked in the parking lot.

Officials say it started around 11:30 this morning.

Five employees and two dogs were inside at the time; fortunately they all made it out okay.

Ovide’s Auto Repair is a family business that’s been around for 30 years.

The owner, Ovide Corbeil, says it will be tough to recover, but his faith is helping him through.

“Driving up, saw flames and I said, ‘God, can’t be my place,’ and yes it is,” Corbeil said. “Something good is going to come out of this, I don’t know what but something will.”

Around 60 fire fighters helped get the flames out.
