1920 – 2015
BRIDGTON — Robie G. Wagner, 94, a former resident of Livermore Falls, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, at his daughter’s home in Bridgton.
He was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Union Square, N.S., Canada, the son of William Lloyd Wagner and Beulah B. (Ramey) Wagner. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1937 and later joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. After completing his Class-A storekeeper school in Samson, N.Y., and technical storekeeper school at the naval supply depot in Mechanicsburg, Pa., he served as a storekeeper during Word War II at a naval supply depot on the Island of Guam. On March 30, 1941, he married Gloria D. Dumais in Gardiner and made their home in Livermore Falls. Robie worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years and retired in 1981.
He was a member of American Legion George Bunton Post No. 10 in Livermore Falls, where he served as a post commander in 1957 and was an honorary life member for 66 years. He was also a member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post No. 3335 in Jay, where he was an honorary life member, the Lane Dube AMVETS Post No. 33 in Jay, and the La Societe Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevauz for 61 years and served as grand chef de gare-grand voiture Dumaine in 1972.
Robie was extremely proud of his large vegetable garden and he enjoyed socializing with family and friends. Gloria and Robie enjoyed traveling and making Florida their second home for 26 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Dale (Wagner) Brown and her husband, Dennis, of Bridgton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Clayton Wagner; and sister, Myra Wagner of Livermore Falls.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Gloria Wagner on Oct. 29, 2014; and his brothers, Maurice C. Wagner and Russell G. Wagner.
