GARDINER — Johnny Ater, one of Maine’s favorite comedians, will headline Maine Event Comedy at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Johnson Hall, 280 Water St.
The show will also feature Tuck Tucker, Kyron Hobdy and host Mark Turcotte.
Whether he’s taking light-hearted swipes at himself and his fellow Mainers or contorting his face into hilarious characters, Ater has left audiences laughing throughout New England and beyond since 2003. He has performed at the Punchline in San Francisco and is the resident host of the Maine Comedy Festival. Ater has also appeared on “The Nite Show with Danny Cashman” and recently spearheaded a fundraising show for the Bath Food Pantry.
Tucker, a founding member of Portland’s Running with Scissors improvisation group, was a finalist on HBO’s Lucky 21 Comedy Showcase in New York City. He has performed at the Funnybone in Hartford, Conn., and at the Comedy Connection in Boston and Providence, R.I.
Hobdy was invited to take part in the 2015 World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas. He regularly performs at Headliners Comedy Club as well as at Comix at Foxwoods Resort Casino. He was also a finalist in the 2013 Funniest Comic in New England.
