1934 – 2015
BRUNSWICK — William A. Dunton Sr., 81, of Post Office Road in Westport Island, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 22, at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, with family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston Aug. 2, 1934, a son of James H. and Vira (Jones) Dunton. He grew up in Lisbon Falls and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1952.
On June 20, 1959, Bill married the former Helen Piela at Holy Family Church in Lisbon Falls. They resided for a number of years in Lisbon Falls and had been living in Westport Island for the past 30 years.
Bill worked 39 years at Bath Iron Works, spending the last several years as a shipfitter, until retirement.
Among his favorite enjoyments were cutting and working with wood, fixing cars and reading and learning about World War II history. He and Helen also enjoyed spending many summers at their camp on Westport Island.
Bill was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father and grandfather who be dearly missed. He leaves behind his wife, Helen Dunton of Westport Island; three sons, Bill Dunton Jr. of Lisbon Falls, Jim Dunton of Westport Island and Tim Dunton and wife, Wanda, of Jefferson; and one grandson, Bill Dunton III of Lisbon Falls.
He was predeceased by his parents.
