1923 – 2015

MECHANIC FALLS — Florence Grant Mitchell, 92, of Mechanic Falls, passed away quietly at home on Saturday, Dec. 26.

She was born Dec. 22, 1923, to Percy and Capitola (Rowe) Grant and was a 1943 graduate of Mechanic Falls High School.

In 1947, she married Richard E. Mitchell. Florence was a member of the Advent Christian Church and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. Her favorite place was her camp on Thompson Lake, where she enjoyed spending summers with her family and friends. She enjoyed hearing from all her friends and family during her illness. Their thoughts and prayers were her celebration of life.

Florence is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Hackett and her husband, Bruce, of North Berwick, and Tania Whittier and her husband, James, of West Poland; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Goss and Roberta Smith; and a brother, Percy A. Grant, II.
