Department of Human Services employees demonstrated outside their Main Street office in Lewiston Friday, saying proposed budget cuts make them worry about their jobs and their clients’ welfare. “We want to call attention to the fact that we need … a budget that reflects the true nature of Maine people’s needs,” said Peter Driscoll, a Children’s Services caseworker and a member of the Maine State Employees Association. He and a dozen fellow employees were walking the sidewalk at noon, wearing placards and braving 10-degree weather.
