1956 – 2016

TOGUS — Daniel R. Fortier, 59, of Norridgewock, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Maine Veterans’ Hospital in Togus, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 3, 1956, in Lewiston, the son of Joseph H. and Rita (Belanger) Fortier. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1974. He was a veteran who proudly served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps until his honorable discharge in 1980.

He was employed as a safety quartermaster for B.E. & K in Jay, worked at Bass Shoe in Wilton and several years as master technician custodian in a local school system.

He enjoyed camping, his pet animals, riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.

Dan is survived by his domestic partner, Shai H. Freese; two sons, Michael J. Fortier and Jeffrey D. Fortier; mother, Rita B. Belanger; sister, Susan F. Roderick; brother, Raymond J. Fortier; grandson, Keegan Fortier; granddaughter, Kyarra Fortier; best friends, Willie and Juanita Bachelder, Erwin and Shirley Emery, Dennis and Brenda Presby, Ken Marin, Susan Lee and Tom Marin.
