From 8 to 11 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, jazz musician Josh Hatfield will perform at Pedro O’Hara’s, 34, Main St., Lewiston. While he has been making most of his career as a jazz musician performing around the state, he began his career playing in the church at the age of 6. He counts among his influences Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Maine Augusta.
On Saturday, Jan. 9, Toby McAllister will be channeling his modern rock influences into choruses and themes of lust, loss when he performs at Pedro O’Hara’s, from 8 to 11 p.m. From the band Sparks The Rescue, he will be teaming up for a duo with one of his band members Nate Spencer. There is no cover either night.
Josh Hatfield
Josh Hatfield began his musical journey at the age of six. While he has been making most of his career as a jazz musician, he began his career playing in the church at the age of six. These beginning influences helped him to shape his style into one including the likes of Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, and others. These helped him to solidify his style of playing, and gain new musical ideas into his own writing and compositions. He has been playing music around the state of Maine for the past seven years.
Josh obtained his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Maine at Augusta in the Fall of 2012. During his years at UMA, he began developing connections with many different venues, including playing at the Eastland Park Hotel in Portland, the State Capitol building in Augusta, Maine, and restaurants up and down the state of Maine.
Josh also has many connections within the churches and schools that he has accompanied for over the years. These include St. Joseph’s Church and Holy Family Parish in Lewiston, Maine, Sacred Heart Parish in Auburn, Maine, Trinity Catholic School in Lewiston, Maine, the Marcia Buker School in Richmond, Maine, as well as many others.
