Volunteers sought for homeless count

Handgun training offered in Wilton
WILTON — The Wilton Fish and Game Association has filled the handgun training class scheduled for Jan. 23.
It will offer another basic handgun training under the instruction of Sheriff Scott Nichols from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Association on Route 2.
Students 21 years of age and older must bring their own handgun unloaded in a holster with at least 50 rounds of ammunition, along with hearing and eye protection. No magnums are allowed on the indoor range.
There will be 10 students per class so that there is adequate instruction per student. Participants are asked to pre-register and pay a $20 class fee by Saturday, Feb. 20.
After the first class is filled, there will be a tentative class in February depending on interest.

Lisbon Rec hosting Georgia trip
LISBON — The Lisbon Recreation Department will host a nine-day, eight-night trip to Savannah, Ga., from April 2 to 10.
The trip will leave from the MTM Center in Lisbon Falls and stop at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
The stay in Georgia will begin with a visit and guided tour of historic Savannah, the “Belle of Georgia.” Other guided tours will include visits to Jekyll and St. Simone’s islands, Beaufort, and the Parris Island Marine Base, including the Iwo Jima Monument, parade field and the Parris Island Museum.
A stop at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum and the Walters Art Museum are scheduled for the return trip.
The price for this trip is $729 per person for double occupancy; add $240 for single occupancy. Included in the price are 14 meals, eight breakfasts and six dinners, all of the tours and the tips for the bus driver and tour guides. A $75 per person deposit is required to hold a spot for the trip.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Jan. 4 were, first, Marta Clements and Dick Allen; second, Les Buzzell and Paul Clement; and third, Nancy Farmer and Luke Merry.
Winners on Jan. 5 were, first/second tie, Jeanine Kivus and Luke Merry with Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; and third, Rosemarie Goodwin and Paul Clement.
Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and new players are welcome.
