CHESTERVILLE — North Chesterville Extension Homemakers had a very eventful 2015 and have already announced their plans for this year.
Last year, two beloved members passed away; Marilyn Dussich in April and Rosemary Poulson in December.
This year’s agenda will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Chesterville Town Office with making Valentine cards for the nursing home and learning about good and healthy carbs.
On Thursday, Feb. 11, planning starts for the free senior citizens St. Patrick’s Day luncheon on Thursday, March 17, in the Chesterville Town Office. The group will also make St. Patrick’s Day cards for each attendee.
The March meeting date has not been determined yet because of the luncheon. The theme will be Irish and contain music, videos and handouts about Ireland. The hope is to plan an outing for a Celtic music concert at the North Church.
The activity for Thursday, April 21, will be everlasting herbs, and on May 19, planning will start for the annual June outing and the group will study Newfoundland. The June meeting date will be determined later as to where and what is chosen for an outing.
On Sept. 15, planning will start for the 2017 programs, the election of officers will take place, plans made for the Chesterville Town Halloween Party and an ornament will be chosen to make for the Rotary Festival of Trees.
The Halloween Party will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at the Chesterville Town Office.
On Nov. 17, plans will be made for the Chesterville Town Christmas party and the group will learn about brain health during aging.
The group Christmas party will be Thursday, Dec. 8. The Chesterville Town Christmas party will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. The group is hoping to attend a Christmas concert during December.
Throughout the year, extra activities are planned, such as bake sales at elections held at the Chesterville Town Office, community projects, donations to worthy causes and more. Anyone interested in attending any meeting or wishing to become a member may contact Sue Gill, president, Linda Brown, vice president, Sue Starrett, treasurer, or Linda Gramlich, secretary. Meetings are free and open to the public.
