As the January 31, 2016 deadline to enroll in affordable health plans offered through the Health Insurance Marketplace looms closer, thousands of Mainers are turning to enroll207.com for assistance in signing up for insurance.

Through enroll207.com, individuals and families have access to free resources that will help them identify all of their health insurance options. These resources include:

  • Access to specially certified assisters and insurance brokers who can provide free help in person or by phone
  • Toll-free help lines and online chat options to speak with customer service representatives at HealthCare.gov
  • A “quick calculator,” providing monthly cost estimates and more
  • A free I Have Health Insurance! Now What? booklet, designed to help people understand how to use their new private health insurance

Mainers are encouraged to select a health insurance plan from the Marketplace before the January 31 deadline to avoid being subject to a tax penalty of 2.5% of an individual’s income or $695 per uninsured person, whichever is greater. Those who have already purchased a plan through the Marketplace should update their financial information to ensure they receive the appropriate financial assistance, and the best plan for their budgets.

With a range of affordable options available from insurers in the state, nearly 90% of Mainers have typically qualified for financial help with the costs of their health plan. Special coverage options are available for adults under the age of 30.

“Thousands of Mainers have signed up for affordable health plans since the Health Insurance Marketplace opened last November,” said Dr. Wendy Wolf, president of the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF), the organization responsible for enroll207.com. “By providing free, local assistance throughenroll207.com, we want to ensure that every person in the state not only has the coverage they need but also understands how to navigate those new plans.”

Enrollment navigators and assisters in locations all over the state are taking appointments to help people enroll in health plans for 2016. To learn more about health coverage options, or to find free assistance signing up for a health insurance plan, please visit www.enroll207.com.
