RANGELEY — The Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce has announced that the 23rd Annual Chili/Chowder Cook-Off will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Bald Mountain Camps. The event kicks off Snodeo Weekend.
This event has been managed by Monika Liedl for many years. This year, Liedl has passed the baton to Meagan Vryhof, who will run the event. Vryhof is a member of the chamber’s Board Events Committee.
There will be three categories of chili: Mild, Two Alarm (medium) and Three Alarm (hot). A panel of judges will determine the winner in each category. Popular vote will determine the winner of Best Overall Chili.
A new feature this year is that there will be two different categories for the chowder competition, fish/seafood and vegetable. A panel of judges will determine the winners in each of these two categories and popular vote will determine the Best Overall Chowder.
Tickets are available at the door or in advance at the chamber’s office at 6 Park Road. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and younger.
