Fly-tying added to cancer center classes

NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine has announced the addition of a fly-tying class to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 20, at the Norway Memorial Library, 258 Main St.

John Wight of the Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be instructor. The class is for anyone impacted by cancer. Materials will be provided.

Rumford class to meet on Thursday

MEXICO — Stephens High School Class of 1948 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Dick’s Restaurant, Main Street. Those who plan to attend should call Nattie at 364-7235.

Rumford Seniors to host luncheon

PERU — The Rumford Senior Citizens will meet for a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at the old Peru school on Main Street.

Marcia and Steve Fuller will speak about biking 4,300 miles from Oregon to Maine.

The lunch will include macaroni and cheese with two hot dogs and dessert. Cost for the luncheon is $6 for members and $7 for nonmembers.

‘College Transition’ class offered

MEXICO — A “College Transitions” class will explore career options, improve academic skills and teach the secrets to college success at Region 9 Adult Education. The class will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays.

Then participants will chose when they can do another three hours of work, during the day or night at Region 9 Adult Education.

The class is funded by a grant from the Maine State Legislature and is free. Orientation will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Region 9 Adult Education, 377 River Road.
