LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens members brought in hats, mittens and toys during December, and on Dec. 22 they were delivered to Safe Voices for Christmas.
On Jan. 4, members met at the Lewiston Armory for a luncheon. After lunch the new board members were sworn in by Linda Federico. New officers are: president, Jerry Frenette; vice president, Madeleine Beaulieu; secretary, Claire Bilodeau; treasurer, Cindy Boyd; and representatives, Patricia Hall, Rose Pelletier and Maggie Chadburn.
Anita Maheux, the new bingo director, told members bingo will now be played on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. January birthdays were acknowledged and members sang “Happy Birthday” and had cake provided by Rose Pelletier. Drawings were done for attendance and a pot of gold.
At their meeting on Monday, Feb. 1, members will learn about the game of pickleball. After the meeting members will play a game of musical chairs that will determine the Valentine king and queen.
The group will host its third annual potluck luncheon on Monday, March 14. Members can sign up in the office. A matching game will be played and those attending are asked to bring in a baby picture and current picture of themselves. Deadline to drop off pictures is Monday, March 7.
The following trips are being offered and are open to nonmembers:
From May 14 to 22, the group will visit Chicago. The trip includes eight nights and 14 meals, a guided tour of Chicago landmarks and a visit to the Willis Tower and the historic Navy Pier. Also included is a cruise on Lake Michigan and free time at Water Tower Place Mall, a visit to the Field Museum of Natural History and the Magnificent Mile. Travelers will also visit the Museum of Science and Industry. A $75 deposit is due upon signing.
From June 26 to July 2, the group will visit Niagara Falls and Toronto. The trip includes six nights and 10 meals, a guided tour of Niagara Falls, Toronto, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Queen Victoria Park and a Hornblower Niagara Cruise. A $75 deposit is due upon signing.
From Sept. 5 to 13, the group will visit northern California. The trip includes round-trip airfare from Boston, with transportation to Boston. Travelers will tour San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Sonoma Wine Country and Napa Valley Wine Train. A $250 deposit is due upon signing. At 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, a representative from Collette Tours will be at the Lewiston Armory drill room to discuss the trip. All are welcome.
From Nov. 11 to 21, the group will visit Branson, Mo. The trip includes 10 nights and 18 meals, three morning shows and three evening shows. Travelers will cruise Table Rock Lake on the Showboat Branson Belle, with dinner and show included. There will be free time at Branson Landing for shopping and a tour of historic downtown Branson. A $75 deposit is due upon signing.
From Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, the group will take a Christmas tour at the White Mountain Resort. The trip includes two nights and five meals, three Christmas shows and a train ride on the “Apple Cider Express.” A $50 deposit is due upon signing.
