FAIRFIELD — State Police have charged a Fairfield mother with murder in connection with the death of her newborn infant.  

State police detectives arrested 20 year old Kayla Stewart at her home along Route 139 in Fairfield  about 4 pm  and charged her with murder.  

Police say she was arrested without incident and taken to the Somerset County Jail. She’s due in court Monday in Skowhegan. 

Police say she is charged in the death of her infant son whose body was found in the detached garage of her mobile home on January 11.  

Her longtime boyfriend,  Nicholas Blood, continues to live at the mobile home and their three year old daughter is staying with relatives elsewhere.
