FALMOUTH — The St. Dominic Academy Saints earned a key victory, defeating the Falmouth Yachtsmen 5-4 in a boys’ hockey contest Thursday night at Falmouth Family Ice.
Noah Toussaint scored two goals and earned an assist to lead the Saints (6-5). Reese Farrell had a goal and two assists. Austin Roy and Jacob Charest each had a goal. Justin Keaney and Nathan Richard each had a pair of assists.
Reece Armitage dropped in two goals and was credited with an assist to lead the Yachtsmen (8-3). Chris Camelio and Alex Grade had the other two goals.
Kyle Welsh made 27 saves in the victory, while Spencer Pierce made 31 saves for Falmouth.
Girls’ hockey
Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill 8, Mt. Ararat/Morse 1
BRUNSWICK — Jaylin Cloutier had a pair of goals to to lead Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill to the 8-1 victory over Mt. Ararat/Morse Eagles at Watson Arena in Brunswick.
Jordan Mynahan had a goal and two assists, while Anna Dodge, Katie Lemieux and Jessica Clavet had a goal and assist for the Blue Devils (9-4-1). Chloe Morin, Bree Bergeron and Olivia Reneall each scored. It was Reneall’s first varsity goal.
Kieley Hetherington had the lone goal for the Eagles (1-13).
Meaghan Gosselin stopped six of the seven shots she faced for the win, while Sydney McLuer made 46 saves for the Eagles.
Girls’ basketball
Buckfield 49, North Yarmouth Academy 35
BUCKFIELD — Kali Litchfield threw in 15 points and Alexis Bennett helped out with 11 points as Buckfield (5-9) vanquished North Yarmouth Academy (1-11), 49-35 in a girls’ basketball game Thursday.
The Bucks built a sturdy 28-16 lead by halftime.
For the Panthers, Sydney Plummer scored the game-high 16 points and Lindsay Tufts dropped in a remarkable 10 points from the free-throw line.
Boys’ basketball
NYA 65, Buckfield 56
BUCKFIELD — The North Yarmouth Academy Panthers pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Buckfield Bucks 19-5 en route to a 65-56 victory in boys’ basketball action.
Haven Cutko led the Panthers with 30 points, while Jake Malcom chipped in with 11 and Chandler Waldron had 10. The Panthers (3-9) drained nine 3-pointers as a team. Cutko and Waldron each had two each.
Jake Kraske led Buckfield (7-7) with 19 points, while Zack Grover put up 14 points and Alec Brough finished with 10. They had six 3-pointers as a team, with Kraske, Grover and Jason Rowe each having two.
