AUBURN — Community Little Theater is holding auditions for the spring production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

It will be staged April 15-24 at the Great Falls Performing Arts Center, 30 Academy St.

The production team includes Director Vincent Ratsavong, Producer Jackie McDonald, Musical Director Rebecca Caron and Choreographer Vincent Ratsavong.

The Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical is about meek flower shop assistant, Seymour, who pines for co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store.

Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 and 3 at the theatre for vocal and dance only, and cold readings if requested by the director. Those auditioning should prepare 16-32 bars of a ballad or up-tempo song from “Little Shop of Horrors” in the part they wish to be considered for. The CLT website and Facebook page has character descriptions.

An accompanist will be available but sheet music must be provided and clearly marked where to begin and end. No a capella auditions will be heard. The complete score will be available at auditions. For more information, contact the director at [email protected]

Dancers must bring suitable dance wear and will have time to change prior to auditioning. All females should wear character heels. All men should wear oxford jazz shoes or jazz shoes. No sandals, crocks, boots, jeans, baggy or loose fitting clothing. Bring water and inform the production staff of any injury or medical conditions prior to the start of auditions.

Those unable to make the scheduled audition or who are late should contact the producer at [email protected] or call 207-212-9132 before the audition to schedule another time or plan for the late arrival.

Head shots and resumes are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
