1934 – 2016

LEWISTON — Aubin J. Gallant. Jr., passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born Aug. 24, 1934, the son of Aubin J. and Evelyn (Seacott) Gallant Sr. He was raised in the Rumford area. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 serving on the USS Wasp from 1951-1953. He was proud to serve his country with bravery and heroism.
Aubin met the love of his life, Marion, in November 1955. They married on June 30, 1956, and together welcomed their first child in the summer of 1959. They had five children, Randall, Cathleen, Charlene, Scott and Josie.
Aubin worked as a machinist in the local shoe industry for many years retiring in the early 1990s. He was a hardworking provider for his family who took great pride in his work. Aubin loved camping at Mount Blue State Park and Beaver Brook Campground. He loved country music and dancing with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Marion; their children, Randall Gallant, Scott Gallant and wife, Susan, and Josie Frost and husband, Phil; a son-in-law, Leo Duchette; his brother, Robert Gallant; and sisters, Joann Beitman and Mildred Harrielson. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughters, Charlene Gallant and Cathleen Duchette; as well as a sister, Leah Campbell.
There is now a void in our hearts that will never be filled. Our lives are forever changed by the loss of such a wonderful man. May the angels rejoice in the love they have now found. We love and miss you — until we meet again.
