Roast turkey dinner at church

PARIS — A roast turkey dinner with all the fixin’s and homemade pies will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, 39 Main St.

Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Parking is available behind the library and town office.

Winter Family Fun Day at Mt. Blue State Park

WELD — A Winter Family Fun Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Mt. Blue State Park.

Activities include cross country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating demonstrations. Skis and some ice skates will be available for use.

There will also be guided snowshoe nature walks, a winter camping demonstration, fat bikes to try out, outdoor nature center, sliding on Center Hill and tote and hay wagon rides.

A hot lunch will be provided. There will be a warming hut. Cost is $1.50 for adults and free for children 12 and under and seniors.

Mexico High Class of  ’52 to meet

MEXICO — Mexico High School Class of 1952 will have a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Thai Restaurant.

Workshop slated on fraud and scams

FRYEBURG — SeniorsPlus, the designated Western Maine Agency on Aging, announces it will hold a workshop on “Fraud and Scams” Tuesday Feb. 9, at the Fryeburg Public Library.

The class, with SeniorsPlus Oxford County Outreach staff person Valerie Cole, will be held at 1 p.m. It will focus on how to identify fraud and scams.

Participants will learn how to recognize common scams and what to do to avoid them, learn useful resources and receive their own fraud prevention guide.

Community members who wish to join the class need to register with SeniorsPlus. The class is free and all are welcome.
