Oxford County Democrats will caucus in Rumford and Bethel on Sunday, March 6, to kick off the 2016 campaign season.

The regional caucuses are at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford and Telstar Regional High School in Bethel. Other meetings will be set in individual towns in smaller groupings.

The Oxford County Democrats have secured conveners for nearly all municipalities, but conveners are still needed for Gilead, Upton, Stoneham, Peru and Roxbury. Anyone willing to help should contact info@oxforddems.org.

According to Oxford County Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell of Greenwood, a complete list of caucus conveners, locations and times is available on the Maine Democratic Party website at mainedems.org, and at facebook.com/OxfordCountyDems.

Just prior to the caucus day, an official caucus notification will be published in local papers.

Caucus attendees indicate presidential preference, select delegates to the Democratic State Convention in June, elect municipal officers and county committee members and discuss national and local policy issues affecting all Maine people.

Republican or Green Party voters who would like to participate in the Democratic caucus must go to their town office and change parties prior to Feb. 20. Absentee ballot request forms are available for download at mainedems.org and must be turned in to the Maine Democratic Party by the close of business on March 2.
