1946 – 2016

BRUNSWICK — David R. Girardin, 69, of Brunswick, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

He was born in Brunswick on Oct. 3, 1946, the son of Armand and Irene (Michaud) Girardin. He was educated at St. John’s School, and was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1965.

Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and served from 1965 to 1971 before his discharge as lance corporal. In 1969, he was married to Cynthia Cleaves Girardin.

David had a career as co-owner and manager of Pennells Apparel for 42 years, retiring in 2013. He was a fourth degree member of the Brunswick Council Knights of Columbus since 1965 and a past grand knight.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Girardin; his children, Jeffrey Girardin and spouse, Jennifer, Johanna Girardin Lloyd and spouse, Edward, and Heather Girardin Picard and spouse, Jeffrey; his grandchildren, Emily Girardin, Nate Girardin, Jordan Lloyd, Mark Lloyd, Elle Picard and Bryce Picard; his siblings, Doris Simonson, Donald Girardin and wife, Connie, Dennis Girardin and wife, Dorna, Theresa Houston and husband, Bill, and widow of Robert Girardin, Sheila; and 12 nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his mother and father; a brother, Robert Girardin; and a niece, Cheryl Simonson Grimmel.
