Beacon Hospice in Auburn recently honored Robert Gibson for his service to the country. Gibson served as a Corpsman in the Navy during World War II. Even with no medical background, his job was to be a medic in the combat field. Jerry DeWitt, who is also a veteran, presented a certificate and American flag pin to Gibson. Gibson lives at Bolster Heights in New Auburn. From left are Beacon Hospice Nurse Diane Crowell, Gibson and DeWitt. Gibson, an Auburn native, has resided here all of his life except the four years he served in the South Pacific.
