AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., in partnership with New Ventures of Maine, will offer two programs that could help achieve better financial security in 2016.
Karleen Andrews will present a workshop, “Introduction to Self-Employment,” at noon Wednesday, Feb. 10. The one-session workshop will help those attending decide if self-employment is the right choice.
The class covers the following topics:
• the pros and cons of owning a business;
• the steps needed for a start-up;
• the major elements of a business plan; and
• the many resources available to help people succeed.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, Chris Davis will present a workshop, “Cleaning Up Your Credit.” The two-hour workshop aims to help people have a better understanding of credit. The basic concepts of credit, strategies for reducing debt and repairing credit, credit reports and credit scores will be discussed.
