LEWISTON — A Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute care provider will discuss pacemakers at a presentation Feb. 11.

Physician assistant Joe Sala, an expert in pacemaker management, will present “Understanding Pacemakers” at 1:30 p.m. in the Chairman’s Room on the lower level of the 12 High St. medical office building next to Central Maine Medical Center.

Sala will discuss why some people need cardiac pacemakers, how they work and what they look like. He will also talk about atrial fibrillation, a heart beat disturbance often treated with a pacemaker.

The program is being offered free. Participants are asked to register in advance. Interpreter services are available upon advance request.
