AUBURN — A head-on collision at 1958 Riverside Drive on Monday afternoon left one man with multiple injuries, emergency officials said.

The crash was reported around 3 p.m., shortly after it began snowing.

The drivers of the Scion and the Toyota Camry sedans, who have not yet been named, were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The driver of the Toyota suffered an arm injury, Richard said.

Firefighter Sita West carried a young boy to safety after the crash. He was uninjured. His mother came to pick him up at the scene, Fire Battalion Chief David Richard said.

The boy’s father, however, had “multi-system trauma,” according to Richard.

Riverside Drive was closed from Jordan Pond Road to Durham for approximately two hours.

Multiple other weather-related crashed were reported throughout the evening Monday, but none with reported serious injuries.
