JAY — Despite the limited amount of snowfall, Spruce Mountain Ski Slope has been open for operation thanks in part to the contribution of local businesses and sponsors, which have allowed free skiing for families.
The slope has more free skiing events scheduled. The first will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, and will include several special activities for the evening.
Spruce Mountain will kick off February vacation with a day of free skiing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15. Highlighted events of the day will include free cross country ski rentals, a “Monday Funday” race as an extension of the weekly alpine races held at Spruce on Sundays in January and February; as well as other activities in the lodge.
Students in grade three to eight from RSU73 may stop at Ski Depot before the start of these events for free alpine rentals as part of the Spruce Mountain Afterschool Program of the 21st Century Community Learning Center.
