Valentine’s Day dinner for seniors
AUBURN — The Auburn Recreation Department is hosting a Valentine’s Day spaghetti and meatball dinner at 11 a.m. on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, for all seniors age 55 and over at the Hasty Community Center in Pettengill Park.
Hors d’oeuvres will be served from 11 to 11:45 a.m. and dinner will be served at noon. The menu will consist of spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad and a Valentine dessert.
After dinner, participants can dance to “oldies” music. A king and queen will be crowned and a 50/50 and door prizes will be drawn.
Tickets are on sale from now until Friday, Feb. 12, at a cost of $12 a person.
APL topic will be messengers from space
AUBURN — “Comets, Meteorites and Asteroids — Messengers from Space” will be the topic at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.
Jon Wallace will give a presentation on the topic. Comets, meteorites and asteroids are the only direct examples of material from outside the planet.
Attendees will look at a number of different types of meteorites and examine examples from asteroids, Mars and the moon and learn what they tell about the solar system. They will also look at what can happen to Earth when one of the objects hits the planet.
In the end, the group will talk about how to start a collection of meteorites and get started with a free specimen (while supplies last).
The snow date will be Friday, Feb. 19.
LPL making paper bouquet’s
LEWISTON — Lewiston Public Library will hold a paper floral bouquet workshop at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17.
This program is free for adults. Registration is preferred but not required.

Crazy 8’s Math Club at APL
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library is offering another session of Bedtime Math’s Crazy 8’s Math Club for children in kindergarten through grade two from 4 to 5 p.m. beginning Tuesday, March 1, and running through Tuesday, March 22. The library is located at 49 Spring St.
The Crazy 8’s Math Club is designed to make math fun. Children attending will jump, run, build stuff and make a mess, all while learning math concepts.
Some of the fun activities planned include Toilet Paper Olympics, Lets’s Get Loud, Bouncy Dice Explosion and M&M Madness and Mayhem.
Space is limited, and registration is required.
