1953 – 2016
LIVERMORE — Dorn Arthur Hughes, 62, a resident of Livermore, died suddenly on Sunday, Feb. 7, at his residence due to natural causes.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Sept. 7, 1953, the son of Douglas R. Hughes and Carol L. (Sherman) Hughes. He attended school in Indiana and following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. Dorn served in Vietnam, the Gulf War and in Japan aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. He received the Navy Battle “E” Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist Insignia and Good Conduct Medal. Dorn was very proud to have served in the U.S. Navy, and retired after 30 years of service.
On Sept. 11, 1985, in Virginia, he married Diana Mae Dumont; they later divorced. Dorn was currently working for Dingley Press in Lisbon, where he had worked since 2007. He was an avid fisherman and loved time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Jenniffer Hughes of Gloversville, N.Y., and Katie Hughes of Auburn; his grandchildren, Kiara, Makayla and Jedidiah Richards; and his aunt, Vicky Smith of Fort Wayne, Ind.
