1922 – 2016

NASHUA, N.H. — Carlton Richner Allen, 93, a resident of Milford, N.H., formerly of Livermore, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua, N.H.

He was born in Jay on Dec. 24, 1922, the son of Raymond W. and Ruth (Richner) Allen. He was a 1942 graduate of Jay High School. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He later received his associate degree at Wentworth in Boston, Mass.

On July 31, 1948, in Canton, he married Adria Marston. Carlton worked as a machinist for Genrad Electronics in West Concord, Mass., and he and Adria made their home in Weston, Mass., and later in Framingham, Mass., for 40 years. After their retirement, they returned to Maine in 1988 and made their home on Goding Road in Livermore.

Carlton was a member of the North Livermore Baptist Church. Carlton loved gardening and also enjoyed fixing things. His friends and neighbors would often bring items for him to repair and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his son, Daniel R. Allen and his wife, Laurene, of Merrimack, N.H.; his daughter, Betsey Allen and her husband, Russell Craig, of Lynnfield, Mass.; granddaughters, Kimberleigh Holman and her husband, Russell, of Roslindale, Mass., and Jennifer Zevos and her husband, Christos, of Hyde Park, Mass.; brothers, Ham Allen of North Jay and Richard Allen and his wife, Lois, of Carmel; and his sister-in-law, Hope Marston of Black River, N.Y.

He was predeceased by his wife, Adria Allen in 2003.
