NEW GLOUCESTER — Josh McHenry, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, announced Friday that he will resign after the March 7 board meeting, because he is moving to North Yarmouth.

He has two months left on his second three-year term. He has been chairman since June 2015.

McHenry said he put his home up for sale this month and was stunned when a contract was negotiated within two days. “I was surprised and thought it would take several months to sell my home,” he said.

Town Manager Paul First said Friday that the board will decide whether to fill the seat for the next two months or wait until the June elections.

McHenry has served as the board’s liaison to the SAD 15 board of directors and the town Budget Committee. He’s a former member of the Planning Board.

“I am sad to see him go,” First said.
