1936 – 2016

AUBURN — Roger F. Canuel, 79, of Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Hospice House in Auburn, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on May 19, 1936, a son of the late Omer and Carmen (Berube) Canuel. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, “Blondie” (Jean Hart), on June 9, 1956, for 54 years.

Roger retired from Lepage Bakeries after 30-plus years, where he worked as a mechanic. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed deer hunting trips with his son and brother, and moose hunting with his son, brother-in-law and nephews.

He loved spending time with his family and summers at his camp, playing cards, sitting by the fire and taking his family out on his boat.

He is survived by his son, Roger and wife, Sue; daughters, Linda Nelson and husband, Rick, and Debbie Rioux and husband, Denis; grandchildren, Tanya Lynch and husband, Shawn, Heidi Wieland and husband, Dieter, Andrea Rodriguez and husband, Tim, Ryan and Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Hunter, Brooklyn, Mason, Ethan, Everett and Juliana; brother, Omer and wife, Terry; best friend and brother, Roland and his wife, Anita; sister, Muriel and husband, Carroll; a special niece, Jane Horrigan; and a close friend, Ron Berube and wife, Doris; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Blondie); and sister, Jeanine Monier.

He will be greatly missed by all.
