1944 – 2016

LEWISTON — J. Louis Bourgoin, 71, died at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by his wife and son on Thursday, Feb. 11, due to complications from diabetes.

He was born in Lewiston to Alphonse “Pete” Bourgoin and Rosa (Albert) Bourgoin on July 13, 1944. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Claire (Desrochers) Bourgoin; and son, Michael. He also leaves behind a sister, Pauline Bourgoin Ossander her husband, Ivan; a brother, Paul Bourgoin and his wife, Linda; as well as four nieces and two nephews.

He served his country proudly, retiring from the U.S. Army Reserve after more than 20 years of service where he was assigned to the 76th Div. Tng. Cmd. as an instructor. He was retired from the Lewiston Fire Department and also served as a dispatcher for 911.

He was a member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 12652, and a 4th degree member of the Msgr. Wallace Assembly.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Central Maine Medical Center SSCU, as well as the ICU doctors and a special thanks to Dr. Ricci and his staff for the care Louis received during his illness.
