SCARBOROUGH — Viola Whytock, 86, died on Friday, Feb. 12, at the Pine Point Nursing Home in Scarborough. She was a resident of Harlow Hill Road in Mexico.
She was born in Rumford, on Jan. 10, 1930, a daughter of Lorne and Gladys (Buckingham) MacConaghy. She was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1948. She worked as a telephone operator and also worked in the kitchen at SAD 43.
Viola was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church and the Women’s Fellowship of the church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
She was married in Mexico on July 3, 1951, to John Whytock who died in Lewiston on Nov. 1, 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Fish and her companion, Donald Prevost, of Rumford, Kay Jackson of Matagorda, Texas, and Janet Whytock of Scarborough; one sister, Nacy Ellis and her husband, Charles, of Auburn; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
