1963 – 2016

LEWISTON — Richard E. “Rick” Gibbs Jr., 52, beloved son of Julia (Tetreault) Belanger, passed peacefully on Friday, Feb. 12, at the Community Partners Nursing Home in Lewiston, with his family by his side.

Rick was born July 14, 1963, in Hartford, Conn., the son of Richard E. Gibbs Sr., and Julia (Tetreault) Belanger.

Rick was a very special person. He spent time in Connecticut and moved to Maine in 1982 to be closer to family.

He enjoyed listening to gossip, going to sporting events, doing the annual multiple sclerosis walk, fishing, listening to music and his favorite television shows. He especially enjoyed listening to the Patriots football games. The highlight of each day was going to the Social Learning Center, where he participated in a variety of activities. Rick was good natured and had the ability to laugh and see the humor in life.

He is loved by his mother, Julia, and stepdad, Terry Belanger, both of Jay; his father, Richard E. Gibbs Sr. of Texas; siblings, Keith Gibbs and his wife, Wanda, of Auburn, Brian Gibbs and his wife, Alice, of Epping, N.H.; nieces, Priscilla Ebarguen of El Paso, Texas, and Patricia Gibbs of Epping, N.H.; and his uncle, Alphonse Tetreault Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Solon.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Alphonse and Mildred Tetreault; and a niece, Brianna Gibbs.

Tributes and condolences may be shared on his memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com, where his memorial video will be viewable in May.
