LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library will celebrate Bring Your Child to the Library Day with doughnuts, coffee and cocoa (first come, first served) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Children’s Room.

The Children’s Room will showcase many programs and resources that the public might not be aware the third floor has, such as American Girl Dolls that children can use in the library or check out to take home. Nooks are also available to borrow and a telescope can be checked out.

A scavenger hunt will be held, with a paperback book as a prize. During the hunt children will learn about the Children’s Room’s selection of books, DVDs and audio books, as well as after-school programs such as ArtVan, Reading Dog and Cooking Club.

Children who visit the library with a parent or grandparent are much more likely to become enthusiastic readers, which in turn leads to school success.
