FARMINGTON — The Farmington Frolic-Maine State Championship dog sled races planned for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-21, at Sandy River Farms have been canceled.
There isn’t enough snow because of Tuesday’s rain, said Joy Turner, who with her husband, Mark, organize the annual race for the Down East Sled Dog Club. They held off on a decision until they could check the cornfields Wednesday morning, she said.
This year, the club’s competition was chosen as a state championship race because of good turnout and spectator response. More racers, including many from Canada, were expected to come, she said.
