Auburn –Mystery for Hire is bringing its mystery show fun back to the LAMetro area at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Mystery for Hire opens with a performance of “Who Killed Jolly Roger?” – a Pirate Mystery Show on Friday, February 26.

“We are partnering with the Hilton Garden to bring mystery themed dinner shows back to a regular location in the L/A area,” said Dan Marois, of Poland Spring, who with his wife, Denise, own and operate Mystery for Hire. “It has been over a year since we performed in LA, and we are looking forward to launching our mystery shows there once again.”

Marois notes that Mystery for Hire first performed shows in Auburn at the No Tomatoes Restaurant in 1995. They recently celebrated their 20th year anniversary having performed for audiences totaling more than 40,000. It is the longest running, year round professional mystery troupe in Maine.

“One of our long time actors, Bob LeBlanc, a Maine native, has written an outrageous script with some of the most interesting pirates you’ll ever meet,” explains Marois, who says that while it is entirely optional, many audience members like to wear pirate outfits to attend the show. “Audience members become part of a pirate ship crew and there’s always a bit of competition during the evening as each one tries to outdo the other.”

Marois says that a mystery show performance appeals to a wide group of people.

“If you like comic interactive fun, the show is a treat,” said Marois. “It also appeals to people who like to dine out, party a bit, and who enjoy theater.”

“Our public shows offer guests a chance to enjoy an evening of entertainment and dining all in one experience,” said Marois. He notes that the ticket price of $40 per person includes the mystery show, tax, buffet and gratuity. A cash bar is available at the restaurant and overnight rooms are available.

“Some members of our cast have performed together for almost twenty years. They know how to inspire each other in a performance and how to make the audience have exceptional fun,” said Marois.

Marois notes that the Auburn show will feature local actors, Greg Simpson of Minot, Sabrina Yocono of Lewiston and Kathleen Nation of Minot. Other actors will be Brian Files of Gardiner and Bob LeBlanc of Newburyport, MA.

Doors open for the mystery show at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 207-784-4433 or tickets can be purchased online from a link at mysteryforhire.com
