LEWISTON — The Rev. Harold Churchill, pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church of Lewiston, has announced his retirement.

Churchill, a native of Fort Fairfield, and his family came to Lewiston and started the church in 1972. Services were held at various locations until the church was built at 715 College St. In 2001, a second building was added, with offices and a hall for social events.

Churchill has guided the congregation for 44 years.

In addition to serving as pastor, he has also been active in the Maine District of the United Pentecostal Church International, serving in various official capacities. He currently serves as honorary district board member.

The Rev. Todd Little, associate pastor under Churchill for the past six years, has been elected to serve as the new pastor.
