1931 – 2016
AUBURN — Josephine L. (Ma, Gee, Josie, Jo and at one time she was called Dodo) Bell, 84, of Lisbon passed away on Tuesday, Feb.16, at Clover Manor in Auburn.
She was born in Brunswick on Aug. 24, 1931, a daughter of the late Alexander Frank and Elizabeth (Ogg) Copp. She was a graduate of the Brunswick High School, Class of 1950. She moved to Lisbon Falls in the early 1960s. She worked various jobs over time such as Jay Brush, Eastland Shoe, Worumbo Mill, Marios, Chuck’s Superette, Bath Iron Works, and she last worked at Lisbon High School. She volunteered at Coombs-Mountfort Legion Post No. 158 where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved cooking for the veterans when they came from Togus V.A. Macaroni and cheese and lasagna were her specialties.
She had many friends over the years and usually a wisecrack for them too. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, her swimming pool, crafts and time with family and friends. Her biggest love outside of family was a little guy named Mickey Mouse. She had a “small” collection of Mickey stuff. One time, she shaved the side of her head and had a Mickey drawn on there.
She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her son, David Fraser and his wife, Terry, of Chelsea; her sister, Mrs. Blaine (Margaret) Austin of Durham; and her three grandchildren, David (DJ) Fraser and his wife, Heather, of Buckfield, April Newton of Turner and Ashlee Kates from Turner. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Cash Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and George Copp; sisters, Mrs. Howard (Mabel) Williams and Caroline Osmond; and a very good friend, Dot Winn.
