1952 – 2016
LEWISTON — Rachel C. Turgeon,”Meme,” 63, a resident of Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center and formerly of Monmouth, died unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 19, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lewiston on March 10, 1952, she was the daughter of Leo and Mariette Ruel Turgeon. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’71. She was employed as a medical technician at Heritage Rehab and Living Center in Winthrop for many years, retiring due to illness in 2001. Rachel was a loving and caring mom and meme, always looking forward to time spent with family, friends. She was the “life of the party” and was always looking for ways to make people laugh and smile. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, crochet, playing cards, bingo, making homemade greeting cards, and was a member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish,
She is survived by her two daughters, Angel and husband, Jason Bennett, of Sabattus, and Tammy and husband, Earle Allen, of Monmouth; her ex-husband and friend, Henry Frechette of Wales; two brothers, Paul and wife, Barbara Turgeon, of Turner, and Louis and wife, Marti Turgeon, of Walls, Miss.; two sisters, Suzanne Gagnon and Claire Gagnon, both of Auburn; five grandchildren, Autumn Frechette, Madison and Brandon Bennett, Miranda Allen and fiancé, Ethan Bickford, and Devin Allen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two infant brothers, Claude and Pierre.
Rachel was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be missed. The family would like to thank Russell Park, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Central Maine Medical Center for the exceptional care they gave to Rachel.
