It’s always useful to read and understand congressional action before condemning it. In her letter (Feb. 19), Diane Rines of Greene complained that H.Res. 569, introduced by Rep. Don Beyer D-Va., would make “criticism of Islam a hate crime warranting federal prosecution.”

It does no such thing.

It is a resolution “… condemning violence, bigotry and hateful rhetoric …” toward U.S. Muslims. That’s all. Just a statement against bigotry.

Not a law. Not a crime.
