1957 – 2016
AUBURN — Bernadette Vallieres, 80, of Auburn, went to her Heavenly Glory on Saturday, Feb. 20, in Auburn.
She was born in Lewiston, May 11, 1935, to Gedeon and Marie (Bizier) Gagnon and raised in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
She married Charles Vallieres on Nov. 16, 1957.
While she worked several jobs in her lifetime, her primary role was that of mother and homemaker — a job she excelled at and took pride in. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great storyteller. Her laughter was contagious, as many of her funny stories were made funnier because she couldn’t stop laughing as she tried to share them.
She was a devout Christian and her faith defined her above all else. This would guide her through her life as she assumed her role to help spread the Gospel to anyone who had an ear. She enjoyed being social and made friends easily.
As she aged, “it took a village” to ensure her comfort and happiness. In addition to her children, there were many cousins and extended family and friends who supported her in various ways. You know who you are and we thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts.
Bernadette is survived by her children, Suzanne Blais, Nance Vallieres, and Gary and his wife, Melissa Vallieres; four grandsons, Aaron Blais, Kasey and his wife, Anastasia Blais, Isaac, and Eli Vallieres; two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Logan Blais; two brothers, Reginald Gagnon, and Bertrand Gagnon and his wife, Gisele; along with many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; siblings, Roger, Roland, Maurice, Liane (Sr. Marie Elise), Raoul, Rose, Lucienne Albert, Jeannette Pelletier, Therese Dube, Yolande LaBonte; and many in- laws.
