RANGELEY — The Rangeley Friends of the Arts, in partnership with the Westerhoff School of Music of Metuchen, N.J., is offering a new week-long learning opportunity for youth in the Rangeley area this summer: The Westerhoff/RFA Music Camp.

The day camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 to 12 and is for students age 8 to 18.

The week-long camp offers campers the chance to learn from music teachers who have a proven ability to work with youth. Activities will alternate between individual instruction, practice and performance to group lessons, music-making and fun musicianship classes.

Campers will learn to play music with others, write music and advance their individual skills. Each day will include group singing and a noontime outdoor recreational period. On Friday, campers will showcase all they have learned in a performance for family and friends.

Applicants should have six months of experience playing an instrument or studying voice, or singing in a group setting (chorus or choir); students with no previous musical experience are also encouraged to apply and will be considered for participation on an individual basis.

The camp will serve a maximum of 20 students working individually and in small and large groups. Deadline for application is May 20; early registration is recommended to ensure placement.
