1920 – 2016

WEST PARIS — Marjorie Louise Coleman, 96, of Mechanic Falls died early Sunday morning, Feb. 21, at the Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1920, in Auburn, a daughter of Winfield and Elva (Hill) Cox. She attended local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School with the Class of 1938.

Marjorie moved to Mechanic Falls to work after high school, and met the love of her life, Raymond Coleman, whom she married on May 10, 1940, and with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.

Marge was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a 50-plus year member of the Oxford Grange, the Pomona Grange, and the Minot Corner Methodist Church, where she also was involved in the Susanna Wesley Circle.

She worked in the kitchen in Mechanic Falls schools while her children were being educated, and later at Etonic, from where she retired.

Marge and Raymond shared a wonderful life together, enjoying many years at their camp on Green Pond in Oxford. They also loved fishing, snowmobiling and the company of all of their family, particularly their grandchildren while they were growing up.

Marge is survived by a daughter, Geraldine “Deannie” Rogers and her husband, Wes Jr., of Gray; a son, Winfield Coleman and his wife, Carol, of Auburn; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Coleman of Mechanic Falls; grandchildren, Sherri Lucas and her husband, Weldon, of Wayne, Randy Coleman and his wife, Janine, of Minot, Collen Shink and her husband, Jim, of Jay, Mark Gary and his wife, Tammy, of Mechanic Falls, Matt Gary and his wife, Michele, of South Paris, Pam Greene and her husband, Bill, of Poland, Deb Cleaves and her husband, Mike, of Poland, Katie Sturtevant and her husband, Jeff, of Mechanic Falls, Andy Coleman and his wife, Robin, of Mechanic Falls, and Dan Coleman and his wife, Denise, of Auburn; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren, with another on the way.

She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Raymond, in 2006; a son, Gerald in 2000; a sister; and two brothers.

Her family wishes to thank all of the staff at Ledgeview Living Center for the wonderful care they gave Marjorie over the past few years.
