BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center launches Hot Chocolate Thursday as the first in a series of monthly discussions on arts-related subjects. Photographer Bruce Barlow will lead the session as a mini-workshop on how to display artwork for the best visual impact at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the art gallery, 804 Washington St., Bath.

Sequencing pieces well is a practiced skill. Barlow will give a brief overview of the basic ideas of sequencing and then attendees will get a chance to create sequences. Those attending are encouraged to bring six to 10 small pieces of their own to work with. Barlow will also bring many sets of photographs for everyone to practice.

According to Barlow, “Attendees will experience creating interesting sequences and, with their own work, see how sequencing leads them to new insights about their own art.”

Barlow has been holding photography workshops since 1985, and this topic is the perennial favorite. A Westport Island resident, he has been photographing seriously since 1984 and has published two books on photography.

Different topics will be featured each first Thursday of the month. These sessions are free and open to the public. Hot chocolate will be served.
