Assistant town manager celebrated

WILTON — An open house retirement party for Assistant Town Manager Barbara Vining will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Wilton Town Office.

The public is welcome to come and wish her well, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said. Vining’s last day after nearly 45 years working for the Town of Wilton is Feb. 29.

CPR/First Aid course being offered

OXFORD — There will be a CPR and First Aid Class at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

Participants will learn basic first aid; adult, child and infant CPR; and how to use an AED. On completion of the one-day class, students will receive a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association. This certificate course is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-healthcare related professions.

Participants are asked to call to confirm the date. Groups may also request to schedule a class at their convenience. Healthcare BLS CPR re-certifications are done as needed one-on-one.

The next scheduled class is at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 9.

Expectant parents to learn about birth

NORWAY — The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold its next Preparing for Birth class from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in the Harper Conference Room at the Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St.

Gail Martel RNC, ICCE, IBCLC, will be facilitating the course. This group of expectant parents will learn about the labor and delivery.

Expectant moms will explore how to relax and allow themselves to flow with their labor through breathing and relaxation techniques. Their coach will learn how they can assist her through the process of labor and share in the joy of birth.

Information on making a birth plan, comfort measures, stages of labor and cesarean delivery are all explored. A question and answer session is always part of
